METRICS descriptor table — one row per Metric message, not per point.
Name, unit, kind, temporality and monotonicity are properties of the metric, repeated on every single point by OTLP’s nesting. Hoisting them into a descriptor table that a hundred thousand points point at is most of why the split layout below measures 2.34x smaller than one wide point table.
